No matter what type of weight loss program you are following, there are several things that you can do to enhance the results you will get, and get them faster; making your diet more of an easy diet.
Any successful diet is an easy diet that works because it causes you to create a negative calorie balance, you burn as energy more calories than you consume. No matter how old fashioned, or high tech the diet, only one thing really causes weight loss – burning more calories than you eat.
That said, there are a few things that you can do to improve the results of your program; and make an easy diet even easier:
Be sure to eat breakfast every day – that will jump start your metabolism at the beginning of the day. If you don’t consume enough food, or if you eat at infrequent intervals, your body will actually adjust the metabolism in order to try to conserve calories.
Drink a lot of water, especially cold water. Water helps to flush out waste and impurities, and by drinking cold water; your body will actually burn a few calories heating that water to body temperature.
Try to get a few minutes (or more) of exercise several days each week. This will cause you to burn a few more calories, and it is just plain good for you. You don’t have to run a marathon, but 20 or 30 minutes of walking as briskly as you can will do wonders for the results you will see in your weight loss efforts, making your diet more of an easy diet. In terms of weight loss, walking is far better than running because running puts a lot of stress on the body and the nervous system and can actually hinder your efforts to lose weight – until your body adjusts to it.
Swimming is one of the best exercises for weight loss – it engages almost all of the muscle groups in the body. If you don’t have a pool, check out the local Y, or maybe there is a local Natatorium where you could swim a few times a week for a very low cost, and you can do it all year round.
You really need to do a little strength training to boost weight loss. It doesn’t have to be anything severe, but doing a few barbell or dumbell exercises to stimulate some muscle growth will work wonders for your weight loss plan. As you practice your diet, and as you start to lose fatty tissue, picking up some weights will build your muscle tissue, just as you are losing fatty tissue; and muscle tissue burns calories even while you are at rest!
You can pick up some dumbells really cheap even at Walmart or Target, and they will help turn your diet into an easy diet; just by using them for a few minutes every day or two.
