There was a time when I couldn’t get motivated to lose weight – I knew I needed to; and I knew all of the benefits of doing it; but I didn’t bother to diet and I certainly didn’t bother to exercise. At my heaviest I weighed about 240 pounds; that was a lot more than my 6’1” frame really needed to carry; my “fighting weight” is about 180.

Then; I found my motivation:

Chest pains one day at work.

I wound up in the hospital hooked to a heart monitor. My heart eventually checked out OK; but I was too heavy; my blood pressure was 209 over 110; my cholesterol was through the roof; and at an age already three years older than my father was when he died I was a stroke or a heart attack waiting to happen.

That was my motivation to lose weight.
